A National Corp member in Akwa Ibom  state was drowned yesterday Feb 14th.Victor Daniels, from 2014 batch,met his untimely death while swimming at the Ibeno beach. The late Victor Daniel is said to have won many awards in his state and during his university days.

Over 30 people died while many sustained an injury in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, after suspected Fulani herdsmen in their large numbers sacked over 24 communities and villages in the area.
Some of the affected communities included Chembe, Tse-Mue, Tse-Shigbe, Mgbakpa and Oragbai all in Ukemberagya council ward, which is four kilometers away from Anyiin, Governor Gabriel Suswam’s country home.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the service of court papers on the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in a fresh suit seeking an order disqualifying him from participating in the February 14 poll
                   Already, there is a pending direct criminal complaint against Buhari before a Federal Capital Territory Magistrate’s Court in Abuja asking the court to direct that the former Head of State “be brought to book” for allegedly claiming on oath that he had a certificate he did not obtain.

Only 2.3m parmanent Voters Card was Collected in Lagos – INEC


                     National Electoral Commission officer, Akin Orebiyi, who made the disclosure at a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the Nigeria Police Force towards a successful conduct of the forthcoming general election, said the state was among those with low turnout in PVC collection.
Orebiyi stated that four million PVCs were made available for the 5.9 million registered voters in the state last year, but only 2.3 million have been collected.

Sunnews have it that "President Goodluck Jonathan’s advanced team to the Borno State capital Maiduguri‎, for the presidential campaign that held on Saturday is trapped and currently taking refuge at the Department of State Security (DSS) command, following the attack on the city by Boko Haram.

Secretary of United State,John F. Kerry flew to Nigeria this weekend to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan and his challenger in the upcoming Nigerian presidential election to discuss the vote and discourage violence from each party’s supporters, and also to enhance cooperation in the fight against Islamist terrorism.
Mr. Kerry’s weekend visit came only hours after Boko Haram invaded the northeastern town of Maiduguri and killed 15 people on the eve of a political rally that was going to be held for Mr. Jonathan, who faces off Feb. 14 against challenger Muhhamdu Buhari.

UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA NSUKKA FEMALE HOSTEL ON FIRE.


A misterious fire engulfed a room in one of the UNN female hostels this afternoon, sending students belonggings ablaze. According to one of the victims, Maryann,a final year MICRO BIOLOGY STUDENT,she stated that it took her by supprise on recieving a phone call from a next door neighbour while their lecture was going on this afternoon, saying that fire was burning in their room. On opening their door at NKURUMA hostel, she noticed that their cloths,beds, food stuffs, books and some other belongings were all burnt. Narrating to the JOHNPAUL UGWU'S BLOG, Mary, was full of distress over the fire incidence,since no elementary evidence could trace the cause of the fire. TAKE HEART DEAR.
